Expert Alena Karaliova about some problematic aspects of the draft law on alternative civilian service in Belarus

On November 10, 2014, the draft law on alternative civilian service (ACS) was passed by the House of Representatives in the first session (Resolution of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly from 10.11.2014 #434-П5/V). There are some problematic aspects:

В ходе летней призывной кампании для прохождения срочной военной службы в Вооруженные Силы Беларуси из Солигорского района было призвано 58 человек. Сегодня завершилась отправка призывников на срочную военную службу в воинские части Беларуси, а в военном комиссариате – подведены итоги призывной кампании. Последняя летняя призывная компания длилась всего два месяца вместо обычных четырёх-пяти. Это связано с грядущим изменением сроков призывных кампаний в нашей республике. Теперь они будут проходить осенью и весной, а не летом и замой, как это было ранее.
